Braving Trust

Key Objectives

Learning Objectives:
• Understand why vulnerability [uncertainty, risk, emotional exposure] is the foundational skillset of courage
• Understand the critical role that self-awareness plays in daring leadership
• Recognizing that daring leadership requires showing up for hard conversations, including giving and receiving feedback
• Learn how to use the BRAVING inventory as a way of understanding and discussing the elements of trust: Boundaries, Reliability, Accountability, Vault, Integrity, NonJudgment, and Generosity

Let’s apply Step 3 of the Courage Equation in Brene Brown’s work, Dare to Lead, with Certified Dare to Lead Facilitator, Linda Clark. We’ll dig into the BRAVING inventory and how we use this to diagnose trust issues in ourself, in 1:1 relationships, and in 1:Many relationships like teams.

Think of someone you trust – what behaviors are they always consistent about that help you trust them? Think of someone you “should” trust, but absolutely don’t, what behaviors are they expressing that cause you to feel a lack of trust? When you don’t trust your own recommendations, ideas, and thoughts, what part is getting in your way?  You’ll leave this session with worksheets and ideas for the practical application of behaviors that can build, repair, and sustain trust with yourself, others, and entire groups!
