Sonya serves as the Human Resources Manager and Safety Coordinator at Engines, Inc., a role she has held since 2007. Additionally, Sonya diversified her career as an Associate Broker for ERA Doty Real Estate, where she excelled since 2017, garnering accolades such as the Goal Setter Award and various sales distinctions.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Sonya is deeply engaged in her community. Her past volunteerism includes serving on the Board of Directors for the Jonesboro Chamber of Commerce and as President of the Board for CASA of the 2nd Judicial District, among other roles. Currently, she is actively involved in organizations such as Over-A-Cup, Living Word Church of Jonesboro, NEA Society of Human Resource Management (where served in various roles including President), Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Kappa Nu Omega Chapter, Workforce Development Committee, and the Food Bank of Northeast Arkansas, where she serves on the board.
Originally from Forrest City, Arkansas, Sonya attended Forrest City High School, followed by East Arkansas Community College, where she earned an Associate of Art degree. In 1996, Sonya relocated to Jonesboro, Arkansas, with a desire to expand her knowledge base at Arkansas State University.
Her academic pursuits led her to achieve a Bachelor of Science in Management with a focus on Human Resources Management and later, a Master of Business Administration, both from Arkansas State University. Alongside her academic achievements, Sonya is a proud graduate of the 2012 Leadership Jonesboro program. Additionally, Sonya holds esteemed certifications as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) and a SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP).
In addition to her professional and community commitments, family remains paramount in her life. Sonya has been happily married to her husband, Darryl, for twenty-four years, and together they cherish their three children, Malcolm, Daneisha, and Quinton, as well as their granddaughter, Anala. Her journey is one of continuous growth, service, and dedication to both personal and professional excellence.
