Utilizing Ethics While Investigating Harassment Claims and More in the Workplace

This presentation emphasizes employers’ legal and ethical responsibilities to prevent and resolve workplace harassment, regardless of its basis— be it race, age, religion, disability, sexual harassment, or other protected status. Attorney Nate Read will outline the ethical duty to investigate all complaints and highlight the importance of open communication. By fulfilling this duty, employers not only comply with the law but also foster a respectful, principled workplace culture for every employee.

Attorney Nate Read is a partner at Mitchell Williams Law Firm, where he serves as legal counsel to employers and business leaders on employment-related matters. Backed by extensive experience in employment law, Nate advises businesses and employers on compliance with federal, state and local employment laws and regulations. He works with employers on workplace compliance and personnel management, helping to develop and implement employment policies and procedures. He also advises companies on executive compensation issues along with preparing and enforcing employment, confidentiality, restrictive covenant and severance agreements. He assists assists employers with compensation strategies, hiring, training, discipline, leave and termination matters. He has extensive experience with employment discrimination statutes, the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Family Medical Leave Act. In addition, Nate represents individuals and companies in various contract disputes and business tort litigation, including intellectual property disputes and unfair competition claims. His professional achievements include recognition in Chambers USA: Labor & Employment in Arkansas and being selected to The Best Lawyers in America®: Employment Law – Management. Nate holds a Juris Doctor from Temple University Beasley School of Law, a Master of Arts in international affairs from The George Washington University, and both a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, magna cum laude, from Lyon College.
