Step Right Up: Winning Strategies for Employee Handbook and Policy Updates in 2019

Set your organization up for success by updating your employee handbook and workplace policies to comply with the ever-changing legal landscape. The NLRB’s approach to handbooks is changing significantly. Likewise, EEO policies may need to be expanded in response to the #MeToo movement. OSHA’s stance on drug testing policies and safety incentive programs has shifted. And, medical marijuana is here in Arkansas. The time is now to ensure compliance in 2019.

Key Objectives

  1. Identify the key employment law changes that will impact handbooks and personnel policies in 2019.
  2. Explain recommendations for drafting and revising employment policies to keep pace with recent government rulings and guidance.
  3. Articulate legal risks associated with out-of-date policies to limit liability.

Kimberly Hodges

Kim Hodges is the Managing Shareholder of Ogletree’s Memphis office and has practiced employment law and litigation for over sixteen years. She is licensed in Arkansas, Mississippi, and Tennessee. Prior to joining Ogletree, Kim was lead counsel in Federal Express Corporation’s litigation and employment group and worked in various roles in the HR departments of ServiceMaster – TruGreen ChemLawn, Trailmobile, and Riceland Foods.

Dee Anna Hayes

Dee Anna Hays is a Shareholder at the law firm of Ogletree Deakins. She grew up in Arkansas and completed her first year of law school at the University of Arkansas before moving to Florida with her family. Go Hogs! Dee Anna represents employers across the country in all areas of employment law compliance and defense. She is Board Certified in Labor and Employment Law by the Florida Bar. Dee Anna serves on the Board of Directors of HR Tampa, a Florida SHRM Chapter, and is a past Co-Chair of her local bar association’s labor and employment law section.
