Key Objectives

Participants who attend this session will be able to:

  • Gain insight into Northwest Arkansas’ collective workforce needs both currently, and through the next decade.
  • Learn about our current collective efforts in Northwest Arkansas to inform and integrate real workplace learning and job skill development into our K-20 educational programs and adult learning programs to increase the value and participation in internships, apprenticeships and entry-level employment opportunities.
  • Learn about new tools and resources focused on educational- industrial alignment and collaboration and how to engage in this effort.

Summary

In this session, you will learn about current efforts in Northwest Arkansas’ to bridge not only emerging skills gaps, but awareness and perception gaps, experience gaps and efforts to create a more informed, hirable workforce. Northwest Arkansas is creating new resources to help educate our regions’ job seekers as to the possibilities around them as well as strengthening the relationships between employers and training institutions in the formation of apprenticeship training programs, industry mentoring and coaching engagements with training institutes and is striving to create a more seamless hand-off into the arms of our employers. We all need the next wave of talent to understand our needs and opportunities as employers; through this session, information will be shared about our new model for engagement and onboarding of that talent into our businesses.
