Participants will learn calculate return on investment for the development of a business case for diversity. In particular, participants will learn the difference between proactive and reactive approaches to inclusion, discuss recent EEOC headlines to establish ROI for DEI-based strategy, inclusion-related training, and broaden their mindsets with trending DEI topics and terminology
Participants will journey alongside Dr. Gordon as she discusses the business case for an inclusive culture. Dr G highlights the importance of growing a mindset of obligation rather than one of entitlement. Dr G reviews EEOC headlines, census data, and trending workplace issues. She then guides participants through a conversation about the value of DEI, growing understanding of DEI’s impact, and some steps to help participants illuminate then diminish a bias or two.

Dr. Kimberley Gordon (Dr. G) is a professor of leadership and management at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith (UAFS). Dr. G is the lead Human Resource-Organizational Development consultant at the UAFS Center for Economic Development. She is regarded as a subject matter expert in human resources and organizational development. Dr. G develops leaders and the organizations they serve through a number of activities including, consulting, public and private workshops related to HR and OD competencies, and one-on-one coaching. Her platform embraces a mindset of systems thinking and personal holistic development. Something for everyone? Yes! Dr. Gordon’s topics and manner of delivery appeal to a number of collars: white, blue, brown, and green. Clients include industry giants such as Whirlpool, Ingersoll-Rand, Nestle, and Mars. She’s worked with municipalities including police forces and federal agencies such as the EEOC. Life before academia? Extensive! Prior to joining academia, Dr. Gordon held corporate and field positions in human resource and organizational development with a Fortune 100 company. Her last role in the private sector involved the development and delivery of a fast-track advancement program for more than 250 high-potential employees with focus on individual development, action planning and mentoring. In this capacity Dr. Gordon worked with domestic emerging leaders as well as ex-patriots in China, Brazil, Mexico, and Canada. Looking for mummies? Yes! in 2011, Dr. Gordon led a team of multi-disciplined students and professionals to Peru to study and work at the Huaca Pucllana archaeological site, home to the Lima and Wari civilizations dating to 500 A.D. In addition to traditional teaching, Dr. Gordon provides consulting and customized training of organizational development and human resource natures to regional organizations, public, private and non-profit including many domestic facilities of foreign-owned organizations. Building new programs to entice high-schoolers to STEM? Yes! In 2016, Dr. Gordon wrote implementation grants and received funding of nearly $2 Million to launch regional workforce development. The programs developed by Dr. Gordon provided students in six regional high schools the opportunity to purpose concurrent credit while being students at high school and UAFS. Programs of study included Cyber Science and Robot Automation. Launched in an unprecedented time frame, the programs that Dr. Gordon launched currently include more than 200 high school students from nine area high schools. Cost effective? How do you put a price on excellence! Yes, Dr. Gordon provides a terrific return on investment as she has the uncanny knack for adapting to the audience in a way that creates credibility and value. Additionally, Dr. Gordon is adept at sourcing grants. In 2022, Dr. Gordon secured tens of thousands of dollars in rebate grants enabling clients across Arkansas to provide top shelf learning and development. Qualified? Yes! Dr. Gordon holds a Doctor of Education in Workforce Development Education from the University of Arkansas. She was conferred Master of Science Degree in Ethics and Leadership and Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management, both from John Brown University. She holds accreditations from the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI) as a Senior Professional of Human Resources and the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) as Senior Certified Professional. Dr. Gordon is a certified facilitator for Development Dimensions International, FranklinCovey and the Institute for Motivational Living. She is a certified life coach through Institute for Motivational Living and serves clients and partners around the globe.
